The summertime can be punishing with the heat and humidity. Not just for you — for your air conditioning unit. Before the worst of it hits, what can you do to protect and maintain your air conditioning unit?
Get it Serviced
And annual service and tune-up can protect your cooling unit– and your investment. A technician will clean, adjust, and troubleshoot any parts that might be wearing out before the weather stresses the unit and potentially causes a costly repair. Preventative maintenance can mean the difference between a trouble-free summer and a sweltering wait for a technician on a day with record highs.
Take a load off…
Your unit, of course. There are a few things you can do to make it so your A/C doesn’t have to work so hard. You can install landscaping so that the unit is shaded from direct sunlight. Not too close, you don’t want to compromise the air intake, but simple shade can improve efficiency by up to 10%.
Do your part
There are several ways to improve the ease of cooling your house. Turn your fans to the summer setting (turning counter-clockwise). Close the blinds on the hot sides of the house to keep the heat out. By doing this you will make much better use of the unit, and it will last longer.
Call to schedule an annual service appointment for your AC to ensure you’ll stay cool this summer.
